As part of the elective course M14 “Drugs, Diet, and Digital Myths: Identifying and Countering Medical Misinformation” led by Assoc. Prof. Marietta Zille and PhD candidate Amir Pasokh, students of the Master programs Pharmacy as well as Drug Discovery and Development prepared and presented scientific posters addressing common examples of health-related misinformation and disinformation. The poster session on June 23 focused on critically evaluating popular claims about supplements, nutrition, drugs, vaccines, and “natural” remedies, and on translating scientific evidence into clear messages for a non-specialist audience.
This teaching activity builds on the ideas developed within the CENTRAL project workshop “The Importance of Pharmacology Education in the Age of Misinformation and Disinformation”, organized in collaboration with Charles University and the University of Warsaw. In line with the CENTRAL project’s aim to strengthen pharmacology education and public outreach, the elective encouraged students to reflect on how evidence-based communication can help counter misleading health information in society.
