The event was organized within the framework of the Central European Network for Teaching and Research in Academic Liaison (CENTRAL), in collaboration with researchers and educators from Charles University (Prague, Czech Republic) and the University of Warsaw (Poland).
Building upon the first workshop held in Warsaw, this two-day meeting in Vienna focused on practical strategies to counter misinformation in pharmacology and healthcare education. The program combined poster presentations, interactive discussions, and collaborative sessions addressing current challenges in science communication and public health education.
A central feature of the workshop was a series of thematic poster sessions, covering topics such as misinformation about antibiotics, nicotine, natural products, and vitamins. Our Vienna team contributed with poster presentations on “Misinformation about natural drugs” and “Misinformation about vitamins,” followed by in-depth discussions with participants from different disciplines.
The workshop also emphasized critical evaluation of information, the role of universities in public engagement, and future collaborative initiatives within the CENTRAL network. In addition, a joint podcast recording involving doctoral students from Vienna, Prague, and Warsaw highlighted the importance of communicating scientific knowledge to broader audiences.
The meeting provided an excellent platform for interdisciplinary exchange and strengthened ongoing collaborations between partner institutions. Our team was pleased to actively contribute to the discussions and looks forward to further joint initiatives aimed at improving pharmacology education and reducing health-related misinformation.
