New CENTRAL Workshop Grant Awarded

17.06.2025

We are pleased to announce that a joint workshop grant on “The Importance of Pharmacology Education in the Age of Misinformation and Disinformation” has been awarded by the Central European Network for Teaching and Research in Academic Liaison (CENTRAL). The workshops will bring together researchers and educators from Charles University, Department of Pharmacology, Second Faculty of Medicine, Prague, Czech Republic (PI Prof. Dr. Eva Kmoníčková), from University of Warsaw, Faculty of Journalism, Information and Book Studies (Co-PI Prof. Dr. Małgorzata Kisilowska-Szurmińska), and from the University of Vienn, Division of Pharmacology and Toxicology (Co-PI Ass.-Prof. Marietta Zille, PhD).

In an era marked by the rapid spread of health misinformation – particularly via social media and emerging AI tools – this initiative seeks to:

- Identify common myths and misleading claims about drugs and dietary supplements;

- Explore effective strategies for public engagement across pharmacy, pharmacology, and the humanities;

- Develop collaborative approaches for public education, with a special focus on reaching younger audiences.

Through these workshops, we aim to strengthen the role of pharmacologists and pharmacists in promoting evidence-based medicine and improving health literacy across Central Europe.
