The theoretical portion of the course is offered as in-person instruction, with and without mandatory attendance. The schedule and general information regarding in-person instruction will be posted on Moodle on an ongoing basis and in a timely manner. Be sure to check regularly for updates!
Information on attendance requirements: If students provide credible evidence in a timely manner that they are unable to attend classes on days with mandatory attendance for a valid reason, they may be excused from the attendance requirement a maximum of one time.
(Switching groups is only possible if there are scheduling conflicts with other internships AND if you can provide the consent of a specific replacement partner.)
The practical component is scheduled to take place from May 26 to June 5! (Mornings or afternoons / see group assignments, to be announced later in the semester)

Please apply for this internship only if you can meet the 100% attendance requirement.
According to the curriculum, the course on the nomenclature of medicinal substances is scheduled for the third semester, and the course on general pharmacology and pharmacokinetics is scheduled for the fourth semester.
Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to schedule these courses without overlap, so we recommend that you take the Nomenclature course first and then register for the General Pharmacology and Pharmacokinetics course next semester.
Since attendance is mandatory and you need to be present to successfully complete the internship, it is unfortunately not possible to be absent even for a few minutes.

Before the practical training sessions begin, we will provide you with the theoretical knowledge on selected topics in experimental pharmacological research through two introductory lectures.
Introductory lectures: Attendance is mandatory for all students
The self-study of the two introductory lectures forms the foundation for the content of the advanced practicum
Unit I - Prof. Schmidt (you can find them pre-recorded on Moodle; they are available at any time)
Unit II - Prof. Weinzinger (you can find them pre-recorded on Moodle; they are available at any time)
Final Exam: 05.06.2026 08:00 - 8:30 a.m. HS 5+7+ 8 (This is the only available time slot)
Details regarding the format of the final exam will be announced via Moodle.
Rescheduled date: 19.06.2026 8:00 - 8:30 a.m. HS 7 (This session is exclusively for students who
received a failing grade on the final exam on June 5, 2026)
The lecture materials will be made available for download via the Moodle platform at the start of the seminar. Mastering the content of the introductory lectures forms the foundation for the advanced seminar and is mandatory for all students.
The second part of the seminar will be held in small groups. Here, you will examine a research topic and the methodology used in detail.
Information about the practical training component: The practical training sessions will take place on the following dates.

You may only send an email to yvonne.kosch@unvie.ac.at between March 2, 2026 (12:00 p.m.) and March 6, 2026 (12:00 p.m.) to indicate which course is not suitable for you, but please include an explanation. However, this does not guarantee that your request will be accommodated, as organizing such a large internship is already very complex.
Please note that, unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate the VU nomenclature.
The group assignments are expected to be posted on Moodle during the week of March 9–13, 2026. No changes to the groups can be made after that point!

Introductory lecture for all students: ATTENDANCE IS MANDATORY!
The introductory lecture for the course “Interpretation of Clinical Studies” will take place ONLINE via Zoom on March 4, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.

The preliminary discussion for this exercise will take place during the first lecture session on April 13, 2026.
At this introductory meeting, you will receive all the important information about how this course will be conducted.
This course is divided into two parts:
- Part 1: Theoretical instruction (lectures)
Part 2: Workshops featuring calculations and real-world problems, and the analysis of a pharmacokinetic problem
The lectures will be held on April 13, 2026, April 20, 2026, and April 27, 2026 (4:45–6:15 p.m.; Lecture Hall 5).
The second part of the exercise will be conducted in small groups.
The small-group sessions are scheduled to take place on May 4, 2026, May 11, 2026, and May 18, 2026, in the morning and afternoon (subject to change!).
Students will be assigned to groups at the start of the course via self-enrollment on Moodle.
