Master thesis - Prof. Schmidt
We warmly welcome students who are motivated and interested in working with us in the lab. Provided there are lab positions available (starting in March 2027), you will have the opportunity to complete your master’s thesis with us in the context of modern systems biology-based pain research.
Master’s theses are primarily conducted in a practical laboratory setting. Since we take the supervision of these theses very seriously and aim to provide you with comprehensive support, we ask for your understanding that spots for Master’s theses are unfortunately limited. Due to high demand, new theses cannot begin until March 2027.
Applications for Master’s theses can be submitted via email starting in July 2026. Please understand that we can only respond to inquiries accompanied by complete documentation (see below) that reach us between July 1 and July 31, 2026.
Please send your application materials (resume and cover letter explaining why you want to work with us) in a single PDF file to Prof. Manuela Schmidt at manuela_schmidt(at)univie.ac.at.
In exceptional cases, it is possible to complete the master’s thesis as a literature review. Open slots for this would be available starting in July 2026. If you are interested in such a literature-based master’s thesis in the context of modern biomedical research, please send your complete application materials (see above) via email to Prof. Manuela Schmidt, manuela_schmidt(at)univie.ac.at. Please understand that we can only respond to inquiries accompanied by complete application materials that reach us between June 1, 2026, and June 20, 2026.
